Visual development and book design for one installment of a three-part series. The challenge was building a flexible design system to maintain visual consistency across the covers and interior pacing, while assigning a distinct, unique color palette to each individual story. My role covered creating character design, hand-lettering, layout and cover design.

Thumbnails & Layout Rhythm I mapped out the book using thumbnail sketches to design a dynamic, unpredictable visual pacing. The final layout intentionally shifts between immersive full-page bleeds, white frames with characters breaking out of their borders, and spot illustrations.

Visual Development & Color Testing

Lettering & Layout Integration I created custom handwritten text that physically overlaps and interacts with the illustrations. This combination makes the words feel like an expressive extension of the character’s emotions.
