Role: Illustration, Layout Design, Cover Typography
Publisher: New Growth Press, 2022
Target Audience: Ages 5–8
Overview This is a 32-page picture book about telling the truth. I handled the entire visual side of the project. My work included the illustrations, layout, cover design, and hand-lettered typography. To make a serious topic feel approachable, I used a naive art style with rough pencil and wax crayon textures. The characters have stiff, paper-doll proportions so the book looks like an adult and a child drew it together.

Initial sketches and character sheets. The anatomy is intentionally stiff and stylized. The raw crayon textures make the art feel tactile for young readers.

Layouts and full spreads. I used a flattened, multi-point perspective to mimic how kids naturally perceive space. This strips away realistic details and keeps the focus entirely on the characters and how they change size in the story.
